High School Group Programs
BaseCamp High School Group Programs provide students, teachers and school boards with a well structured and fully supported partner for group programs abroad. With our network of international centers overseas, our staff both at home and abroad, our relationships and our programing in each of our countries, we are the best choice to manage your first or your next experiential high school program abroad.
There are two main types of Teacher Led Group Programs. Service Learning Programs (or volunteer programs) and Language & Cultural programs.
Service Learning Programs
BaseCamp's Service Learning programs offer unique opportunities for students to become involved at a grassroots level in an international setting. While volunteering abroad, students become engaged in the local culture and in the challenges faced by local communities. These volunteer experiences provide engaging and productive opportunities for students. Our programs promote cross cultural learning and understanding through active participation in service experiences and provides an opportunity for students to use skills and knowledge in real-life situations. By extending learning beyond the classroom, your students will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the culture of their host country and the challenges faced by a developing nation.
Language and Cultural Programs
BaseCamp's Language and Cultural programs are designed to provide students with a well rounded and interactive introduction to the language, people, history and culture of their host country. The language training component is fully immersed, providing students with the required vocabulary and phrases needed to complete tasks and interact in their new environment. These language skills allow students to better engage and explore their surroundings and become active participants in the experiential learning process.
The cultural component is more than just a series of tours. The program provides students with the insight and context required to better understand the significance and role of many of the countries most important destinations and events. Guest speakers and special events help to provide current and relevant information regarding ongoing social and cultural issues.
